This work consists of 85 of Matthey Brady’s 1800’s collodion portraits of capitalists, generals, senators, and priests digitally altered using the color palettes popular in contemporary men’s fashion overlaid with a repetitive pattern of consumer symbols/signs. The work serves as a political/social critique where influential figures are “packaged and sold” to the public devoid of innovate thought or political/social discourse.
This artwork is housed in the permanent collection at the Huntington Museum of Art. For more info about the HMA, click here.
